September 10th - OPENING DAY
All day events:
PhotoSynthesis Photography Exhibit - large scale outdoor exhibit featuring the perspectives of eight tree specialists
Displays/Presentations by community groups dedicated to protecting and promoting trees
Twigs Nursery - selling native and locally grown tree seedlings
Food and Drink vendors selling tree-inspired treat
Reading corner/Craft table/Bird watching station and other kids' activities
Special Events:
10am - Festival Launch with City Councillor David Chernushenko
10:30am - 11:30am - Open House on the restoration of Brewer Pond presented by the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority - The tour will provide information of how the Brewer Park Pond restoration came to be and what the social and ecological benefits are.
11am - 2pm - Carleton U, Department of Geography Field Study Research Site
12pm -1pm -Presentation by Forestry Professor Dr. Andy Kenney on the health and status of Ottawa's urban forest and specifically, the importance of privately owned trees.
2pm - 3pm- Walk and Talk Tour from an Indigenous Worldview, lead by Alanis King. The tour will be through the park sharing cultural stories on the origins and uses of trees as well as the plant and animal world around the trees from time immemorial. Learn about the trickster, the natural world, traditional medicine, and gain insight into an Indigenous World view and our relationship to the land.

September 17th - FAMILY DAY

10am - 1pm - Carleton University Department of Geography Field Study Research Site
10am-10:45 and 11:00-11:45 - Storyhour: Tall Tree Tales with Sue from Sunnyside Library - for 0-6 year olds
12pm - 1pm - Walk around Brewer Park with city councillor David Chernushenko to learn about his family's involvement with the park
2pm - 3pm - Guided Walk with tree enthusiast and master tree identifier Owen Clarkin.
7:00pm - 9:30pm - Outdoor Film Screening for the whole family- films on forests from the BBC, National Film Board (NFB) and others. - POSTPONED due to weather. Rebooked for September 24th.

10am - 1am - Carleton University, Department of geography's field studies research site
10am - 11am - Urban foraging: guided walk with herbalist and forager Amber Westfall from the Wild Garden to learn about some of the edible and medicinal uses of the trees of Brewer Park.
11am onwards - Community Potluck Picnic with Tree Inspired Foods
12pm - 1pm - Presentation on the creation of Leslie Park Urban Orchard with founder Mark Howard - CANCELLED
7pm - 9pm - Outdoor Film Screening for the whole family - films on forests from the BBC, National Film Board (NFB) and Light and Shadows.

October 1st - ECOLOGY DAY
All day events:

10am - 1pm - Carleton University, Department of geography field studies research station. Topic: hydrology
10am-12pm - Interactive workshop on the ecology of Brewer Pond led by Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA)
12pm - 1pm - Presentation by Keelan Arnold from the City's Forestry Services on urban tree care
1pm - 2pm - Hands-on, active workshop for kids on the diversity and interconnections of the ecosystem around Brewer Pond. Workshop led by Ecology Ottawa.

10am - 3pm - POP-UP Earth Day Adventure Play - large-scale creative play for kids 3-12 years old
11am - 1pm - Write-Along Sing-Along Workshop: A Group Songwriting Experience with Alex Forbes, a hit songwriter and creativity coach from New York
11am - 12pm - Guided walk and insect exploring with entomologist Hume Douglas
1pm - 2pm - Meditative Arts: Doodling and Pattering Trees and Nature. Pre-registration required. Limited spaces. To register, email: treefestottawa@gmail.com
2pm - 3pm - Guided walk with Alanis King and guest to present the importance of trees and nature from an indigenous perspective

Presentations/Displays by community groups and NGOs on ways to promote, protect and celebrate the urban forest and connect people to urban nature
Food and drink vendors selling tree-inspired treats
Reading corner/Bird watching station/Craft table
Special events:
10am - 11am - Community tree planting around the site. Please bring your own shovels. Led by Ecology Ottawa. Trees provided by the City of Ottawa.
10am - 2pm - Flowering Rush removal with Rideau Valley Conservation Authority and City Stream Watch - all welcome. To register for this event and receive additional event details please email: citystreamwatch@rvca.ca
11am - 2pm - Carleton U, Department of Geography field studies research station
1pm - NEW! Tree-themed scavenger hunt. Teams of 2 or 3.
2pm -3:30pm - West African Hand Drumming Workshop with Percussionist and Educator Kathy Armstrong from Baobab Community
3:30pm - 4pm - Closing ceremony
